The Gretna East Griffins (Gretna, NE) baseball got by the visiting Grand Island Islanders (Grand Island, NE), 1-0 in Saturday's non-league challenge.

The Griffins now own a 14-9 record. They take the field next when they host Elkhorn North for a non-league challenge on Saturday, May 3. Gretna East will clash with a Wolves team coming off a 4-3 non-league win over Blair (Blair, NE). The Wolves record now stands at 13-8.

With the defeat, Grand Island drops to 17-7 on the year. The Islanders travel to Columbus (Columbus, NE) to clash with the Discoverers in a non-league challenge on Monday, May 5. The Discoverers go into the challenge with a record of 10-15. Columbus won 14-2 in their recent non-league challenge against Burke (Omaha, NE)
