The Negaunee Miners overwhelmed the host Garden City Cougars softball squad by a count of 16-5 in Saturday's non-league challenge.

Next, the Miners meet the Marquette Sentinels (Marquette, MI) in a non-league challenge, on Monday, May 5. Negaunee will attempt to upgrade on its 4-8 season record. The Sentinels go into the challenge with a 15-4 record after their 13-3 non-league win over Westwood (Ishpeming, MI).

The Cougars (10-7) will now prepare for their challenge against Thurston (Redford, MI). The Eagles go into the Western Wayne challenge with a 5-4 record. In their last challenge, Thurston toppled Crestwood (Dearborn Heights, MI), 15-0, in a league challenge.
