In Friday's non-league match, the visiting Atlantic Trojans softball team scored a tight 5-2 win over the Ballard Bombers.
The Trojans (2-1) will now prepare for their match against Denison-Schleswig (Denison, IA). The Monarchs come into the Hawkeye 10 match with a 0-2 record. In their last match, Denison-Schleswig was routed by Harlan (Harlan, IA), 9-4, in a league match.
In their next game, the Bombers confront the Van Meter Bulldogs (Van Meter, IA) in a non-league match, on Saturday, May 31. Ballard will attempt to better on its 1-3 season record. The Bulldogs come into the match with a 4-0 record after their 16-3 league win over Woodward-Granger (Woodward, IA).
