In Thursday's non-league game, the host Miller School of Albemarle Mavericks baseball team scored a tight 9-5 victory over the Steward Spartans.
The Mavericks (17-12) will now prepare for their game against St. Christopher's (Richmond, VA). The Saints go into the Virginia Prep game with a 11-8 record. In their last game, St. Christopher's tipped Fork Union Military Academy (Fork Union, VA), 9-5, in a league game.
