The Gillespie Miners softball team scored 16 runs and limited the host Sacred Heart-Griffin Cyclones to 0 in the Miners non-league triumph on Thursday.

With the triumph, Gillespie improves its record to 19-3 on the year. The Miners travel to Hillsboro (Hillsboro, IL) to clash with the Hiltoppers in a South Central game on Friday, May 5. The Hiltoppers come into the game with a record of 6-13. Hillsboro won 4-3 in their recent non-league game against Father McGivney Catholic (Glen Carbon, IL)

In their next game, the Cyclones clash with the Lanphier Lions (Springfield, IL) in a Central State Eight game, on Tuesday, May 9. Sacred Heart-Griffin will attempt to improve on its 6-19 season record.
