The Marengo Indians (Marengo, IL) softball nipped the visiting St. Charles East Fighting Saints (St. Charles, IL), 8-7 in Saturday's non-league bout.
The Indians (19-6) will now prepare for their bout against Richmond-Burton (Richmond, IL). The Rockets go into the Kishwaukee River bout with a 20-8 record. In their last bout, Richmond-Burton was edged by Joliet West (Joliet, IL), 4-1, in a non-league bout.
The Fighting Saints now possess a 14-11 record. They play next when they travel to Cary-Grove for a non-league bout on Saturday, May 4. St. Charles East will confront a Trojans squad coming off a 7-4 league loss to Hampshire (Hampshire, IL). The Trojans record now stands at 7-15.
