The North Newton Spartans softball team scored 5 runs and limited the host McCutcheon Mavericks to 1 in the Spartans non-league triumph on Saturday.

With the triumph, North Newton improves its record to 11-2 on the year. The Spartans host Washington Township (Valparaiso, IN) to clash with the Senators in a non-league game on Monday, May 6. The Senators come into the game with a record of 5-8. Washington Township lost 17-0 in their recent league game against Kouts (Kouts, IN)

In their next game, the Mavericks clash with the Kankakee Valley Kougars (Wheatfield, IN) in a non-league game, on Tuesday, May 7. McCutcheon will attempt to improve on its 11-7 season record. The Kougars come into the game with a 10-8 record after their 8-3 non-league loss to Crown Point (Crown Point, IN).
