The crowd at Saturday's non-league match between the Mechanicville Red Raiders (Mechanicville, NY) and the visiting Nichols Vikings (Buffalo, NY), saw Mechanicville's softball squad nip Nichols by a count of 8-4.

The Red Raiders now sport a 9-2 record. They take the field next when they travel to Tamarac for a Section 2 Wasaren match on Monday, May 6. Mechanicville will face a Bengals squad coming off a 6-4 league win over Hoosick Falls (Hoosick Falls, NY). The Bengals record now stands at 12-2.

With the loss, Nichols falls to 2-6 on the campaign. The Vikings travel to New Hartford (New Hartford, NY) to face the Spartans in a non-league match on Saturday, May 4. The Spartans enter the match with a record of 8-2. New Hartford won 4-1 in their recent league match against Rome Free Academy (Rome, NY)
