In Wednesday's non-league contest, the Southwestern Randolph Cougars (Asheboro, NC) softball team the host Clayton Comets (Clayton, NC), by a margin of 4-2.

With the triumph, Southwestern Randolph moves its record to 10-4 on the year. The Cougars travel to Gray's Creek (Hope Mills, NC) to play the Bears in a non-league contest on Friday, May 7. The Bears come into the contest with a record of 11-2. Gray's Creek won 11-1 in their recent non-league battle against West Carteret (Morehead City, NC)

The Comets now sport a 12-3 record.
