In Thursday's non-league contest, the Independence Blue Devils (Independence, OH) softball team held off the visiting Mapleton Mounties (Ashland, OH), by a margin of 10-9.
With the triumph, Independence moves its record to 9-4 on the year. The Blue Devils host Lakewood (Lakewood, OH) to play the Rangers in a non-league contest on Monday, May 9. The Rangers come into the contest with a record of 7-3.
In their next game, the Mounties play the Western Reserve Roughriders (Collins, OH) in a Firelands contest, on Monday, May 9. Mapleton will attempt to move on its 4-7 season record.
