St. Mary Gaels (Rutherford, NJ) backers exited the stadium thrilled Sunday as they saw their softball squad nip the host Cedar Creek Pirates (Egg Harbor City, NJ), 14-9 in a non-league challenge.

The Gaels now own a 11-5 record. They take the field next when they host Harrison for a NJIC - National challenge on Tuesday, May 7. St. Mary will battle a Blue Tide squad coming off a 11-7 non-league loss to Paterson Charter School for Science and Technology (Paterson, NJ). The Blue Tide record now stands at 4-11.

With the loss, Cedar Creek falls to 6-10 on the campaign. The Pirates host St. Joseph (Hammonton, NJ) to battle the Wildcats in a non-league challenge on Monday, May 6. The Wildcats enter the challenge with a record of 13-6. St. Joseph won 7-0 in their recent non-league challenge against Paul VI (Haddonfield, NJ)
