The Newport Cubs baseball team scored 3 runs and limited the visiting La Grande Tigers to 2 in the Cubs non-league victory on Saturday.
The Cubs (12-5) will now prepare for their match against Sweet Home (Sweet Home, OR). The Huskies go into the 4A Oregon West match with a 1-9 record. In their last match, Sweet Home tipped Cascade (Turner, OR), 12-9, in a league match.
The Tigers (17-4) will now prepare for their match against Pendleton (Pendleton, OR). The Buckaroos go into the 4A Greater Oregon match with a 14-3 record. In their last match, Pendleton tipped Baker/Powder Valley (Baker City, OR), 5-0, in a league match.
