Benton Rangers (Benton, IL) backers exited the stadium thrilled Saturday as they saw their softball squad nip the visiting Goreville Blackcats (Goreville, IL), 11-7 in a non-league challenge.

The Rangers now own a 13-17 record. They take the field next when they host Breese Central for a non-league challenge on Monday, May 8. Benton will face a Cougars squad coming off a 9-3 non-league loss to Wesclin (Trenton, IL). The Cougars record now stands at 10-13.

With the loss, Goreville falls to 19-11 on the campaign. The Blackcats travel to Carterville (Carterville, IL) to face the Lions in a non-league challenge on Monday, May 8.
