Mt. Vernon Yellowjackets (Mt. Vernon, OH) backers exited the stadium thrilled Saturday as they saw their softball squad nip the visiting Tri-Valley Scotties (Dresden, OH), 9-5 in a non-league challenge.

The Yellowjackets now own a 18-5 record. They take the field next when they host Lexington for a Ohio Cardinal challenge on Monday, May 8. Mt. Vernon will face a Minutemen squad coming off a 11-0 non-league loss to Clear Fork (Bellville, OH). The Minutemen record now stands at 4-9.

With the loss, Tri-Valley falls to 15-9 on the campaign. The Scotties host Maysville (Zanesville, OH) to face the Panthers in a Muskingum Valley challenge on Tuesday, May 9. The Panthers enter the challenge with a record of 4-10. Maysville lost 14-6 in their recent league challenge against West Muskingum (Zanesville, OH)
