Danville Ironmen (Danville, PA) backers exited the stadium thrilled Monday as they saw their softball squad nip the host Athens Wildcats (Athens, PA), 5-4 in a non-league challenge.

The Ironmen now own a 7-7 record. They take the field next when they host Central Mountain for a Heartland I challenge on Tuesday, May 7. Danville will battle a Wildcats squad coming off a 11-0 league loss to Jersey Shore (Jersey Shore, PA). The Wildcats record now stands at 10-4.

With the loss, Athens falls to 9-7 on the campaign. The Wildcats host Wyalusing Valley (Wyalusing, PA) to battle the Rams in a Northern Tier - Large challenge on Wednesday, May 8. The Rams enter the challenge with a record of 8-10. Wyalusing Valley won 15-4 in their recent non-league challenge against Sayre (Sayre, PA)
