In Monday's non-league contest, the Clinton Maroons (Clinton, IL) softball team held off the visiting Centennial Chargers (Champaign, IL), by a margin of 2-1.
With the triumph, Clinton moves its record to 10-12 on the year. The Maroons host Tuscola (Tuscola, IL) to play the Warriors in a Central Illinois contest on Thursday, May 9. The Warriors come into the contest with a record of 9-15. Tuscola lost 6-3 in their recent non-league contest against St. Joseph-Ogden (St. Joseph, IL)
In their next game, the Chargers play the Peoria Notre Dame Irish (Peoria, IL) in a Big Twelve contest, on Wednesday, May 8. Centennial will attempt to move on its 5-10 season record. The Irish come into the contest with a 5-19 record after their 9-2 non-league win over Alleman (Rock Island, IL).
