Newton South Lions (Newton, MA) backers exited the stadium thrilled Monday as they saw their softball squad nip the host Waltham Hawks (Waltham, MA), 8-4 in a non-league challenge.

The Lions now own a 5-0 record. They take the field next when they travel to Westford Academy for a Dual County Large challenge on Friday, May 10.

With the loss, Waltham falls to 0-8 on the campaign. The Hawks host Brockton (Brockton, MA) to battle the Boxers in a non-league challenge on Thursday, May 9. The Boxers enter the challenge with a record of 0-2.
