Our Lady of Mercy Monarchs (Rochester, NY) backers exited the stadium thrilled Monday as they saw their softball squad nip the host Notre Dame Fighting Irish (Batavia, NY), 8-1 in a non-league challenge.

The Monarchs now own a 7-4 record. They take the field next when they travel to Aquinas Institute for a non-league challenge on Tuesday, May 7. Our Lady of Mercy will battle a Little Irish squad coming off a 25-1 non-league win over Young Women's College Prep (Rochester, NY). The Little Irish record now stands at 6-6.

With the loss, Notre Dame falls to 2-2 on the campaign. The Fighting irish travel to Kendall (Kendall, NY) to battle the Eagles in a Class DD challenge on Tuesday, May 7. The Eagles enter the challenge with a record of 4-3.
