The Newton Eagles softball team scored 6 runs and held the visiting Cumberland Pirates to 0 in the Eagles non-league win on Tuesday.

The Eagles now possess a 17-0 record. They put it on the line next when they travel to Lawrenceville for a Little Illini battle on Wednesday, May 7. Newton will confront a Indians team coming off a 7-6 non-league win over Cumberland (Toledo, IL). The Indians record now stands at 4-11.

With the loss, Cumberland moves to 7-14 on the season. The Pirates host Okaw Valley (Bethany, IL) to confront the Timberwolves in a non-league battle on Wednesday, May 7. The Timberwolves come into the battle with a record of 1-9. Okaw Valley lost 10-0 in their recent league battle against Blue Ridge (Farmer City, IL)
