North Carolina High School Baseball - Laney nips Wakefield

Laney Buccaneers (Wilmington, NC) fans exited the stadium thrilled Tuesday as they observed their baseball squad hold off the host Wakefield Wolverines (Raleigh, NC), 6-5 in a non-league test.

With the win, Laney upgrades its record to 9-13 on the season. The Buccaneers travel to Jordan (Durham, NC) to battle the Falcons in a non-league test on Friday, May 10. The Falcons come into the test with a record of 19-3. Jordan won 7-6 in their recent non-league test against Clayton (Clayton, NC)

With the defeat, Wakefield falls to 18-9 on the season.

This game is a part of the 2024 NCHSAA Baseball State Championship - 4A tournament
