The Mingo Central Miners (Matewan, WV) baseball trounced the host Bluefield Beavers (Bluefield, WV), 18-1 in Wednesday's non-league challenge.

The Miners now own a 6-13 record. They take the field next when they travel to Tolsia for a non-league challenge on Thursday, May 8. Mingo Central will clash with a Rebels team coming off a 16-3 non-league loss to Scott (Madison, WV). The Rebels record now stands at 2-20.

With the defeat, Bluefield drops to 0-18 on the year. The Beavers travel to Independence (Coal City, WV) to clash with the Patriots in a Coalfield AA challenge on Friday, May 9. The Patriots go into the challenge with a record of 9-10. Independence won 2-0 in their recent non-league challenge against Hoover (Clendenin, WV)
