Rome Free Academy Black Knights (Rome, NY) backers exited the stadium thrilled Monday as they saw their softball squad nip the host Central Valley Academy Thunder (Ilion, NY), 8-4 in a league challenge.

The Black Knights now own a 4-7 record. They take the field next when they host Proctor for a Section 3 Tri-Valley challenge on Tuesday, May 9. Rome Free Academy will battle a Raiders squad coming off a 20-0 league loss to Camden (Camden, NY). The Raiders record now stands at 1-13.

With the loss, Central Valley Academy falls to 6-8 on the campaign. The Thunder travel to Oneida (Oneida, NY) to battle the Indians in a Section 3 Tri-Valley challenge on Tuesday, May 9. The Indians enter the challenge with a record of 4-8. Oneida lost 11-0 in their recent non-league challenge against Notre Dame (Batavia, NY)
