The crowd at Thursday's non-league bout between the Vernon Hills Cougars (Vernon Hills, IL) and the visiting Lake Forest Scouts (Lake Forest, IL), observed Vernon Hills's softball team prevail over Lake Forest by a tally of 16-1.

The Cougars (8-17) will now prepare for their bout against Buffalo Grove (Buffalo Grove, IL). The Bison go into the non-league bout with a 9-10 record. In their last bout, Buffalo Grove knocked off Schaumburg (Schaumburg, IL), 7-6, in a league bout.

In their next game, the Scouts clash with the Stevenson Patriots (Lincolnshire, IL) in a North Suburban bout, on Monday, May 12. Lake Forest will attempt to advance on its 2-18 season record. The Patriots go into the bout with a 19-3 record after their 16-0 league win over Waukegan (Waukegan, IL).
