Harvard Hornets (Harvard, IL) fans exited the stadium thrilled Monday as they saw their softball squad nip the host Genoa-Kingston Cogs (Genoa, IL), 2-1 in a non-league challenge.

The Hornets now sport a 7-7 record. They take the field next when they host Richmond-Burton for a Kishwaukee River challenge on Wednesday, May 11. Harvard will face a Rockets squad coming off a 9-8 non-league loss to Hononegah (Rockton, IL). The Rockets record now stands at 14-4.

With the loss, Genoa-Kingston falls to 8-18 on the campaign. The Cogs host Forreston (Forreston, IL) to face the Cardinals in a non-league challenge on Tuesday, May 10. The Cardinals enter the challenge with a record of 14-3. Forreston won 17-2 in their recent league challenge against Milledgeville (Milledgeville, IL)
