McGuffey Highlanders (Claysville, PA) backers exited the stadium thrilled Tuesday as they saw their softball squad nip the host Burgettstown Blue Devils (Burgettstown, PA), 1-0 in a non-league challenge.

The Highlanders now own a 9-4 record. They take the field next when they host Waynesburg Central for a WPIAL 3A 3 challenge on Wednesday, May 10. McGuffey will battle a Raiders squad coming off a 4-0 league win over Seton LaSalle (Pittsburgh, PA). The Raiders record now stands at 10-1.

With the loss, Burgettstown falls to 7-7 on the campaign. The Blue devils host South Fayette (McDonald, PA) to battle the Lions in a non-league challenge on Thursday, May 11. The Lions enter the challenge with a record of 8-8. South Fayette won 7-3 in their recent non-league challenge against Montour (McKees Rocks, PA)
