Marshall Lions (Marshall, IL) backers exited the stadium thrilled Tuesday as they saw their softball squad nip the host Richland County Tigers (Olney, IL), 9-5 in a league challenge.

The Lions now own a 19-6 record. They take the field next when they host Farina South Central for a non-league challenge on Wednesday, May 10. Marshall will battle a Cougars squad coming off a 7-1 non-league loss to St. Anthony (Effingham, IL). The Cougars record now stands at 19-8.

With the loss, Richland County falls to 11-11 on the campaign. The Tigers host Centralia (Centralia, IL) to battle the Orphans in a non-league challenge on Thursday, May 11. The Orphans enter the challenge with a record of 9-15. Centralia lost 15-5 in their recent non-league challenge against Murphysboro (Murphysboro, IL)
