Hancock County Hornets (Lewisport, KY) backers exited the stadium thrilled Thursday as they saw their softball squad nip the visiting Owensboro Red Devils (Owensboro, KY), 8-3 in a non-league challenge.

The Hornets now own a 18-7 record. They take the field next when they travel to Holy Cross for a non-league challenge on Saturday, May 11. Hancock County will battle a Cougars squad coming off a 16-0 non-league loss to Mercy (Louisville, KY). The Cougars record now stands at 10-9.

With the loss, Owensboro falls to 5-10 on the campaign. The Red devils travel to Butler County (Morgantown, KY) to battle the Bears in a non-league challenge on Saturday, May 11. The Bears enter the challenge with a record of 6-18. Butler County lost 9-7 in their recent non-league challenge against Webster County (Dixon, KY)
