Terre Haute North Vigo Patriots (Terre Haute, IN) backers exited the stadium thrilled Thursday as they saw their softball squad nip the visiting Mattoon Greenwave (Mattoon, IL), 9-8 in a non-league challenge.

The Patriots now own a 14-9 record. They take the field next when they host Carmel for a non-league challenge on Friday, May 10. Terre Haute North Vigo will face a Greyhounds squad coming off a 4-3 non-league loss to Noblesville (Noblesville, IN). The Greyhounds record now stands at 8-15.

With the loss, Mattoon falls to 9-14 on the campaign. The Greenwave travel to Casey-Westfield (Casey, IL) to face the Warriors in a non-league challenge on Saturday, May 11. The Warriors enter the challenge with a record of 30-2. Casey-Westfield won 13-1 in their recent league challenge against Paris (Paris, IL)
