The St. Bede Bruins triumphed over the host Newark Norsemen softball squad by a count of 21-8 in Saturday's non-league challenge.
Next, the Bruins play the Putnam County Panthers (Granville, IL) in a Tri-County challenge, on Monday, May 11. St. Bede will attempt to upgrade on its 23-4 season record. The Panthers enter the challenge with a 9-14 record after their 9-2 non-league win over Mendota (Mendota, IL).
The Norsemen (10-12) will now prepare for their challenge against Dwight (Dwight, IL). The Trojans enter the non-league challenge with a 6-17 record. In their last challenge, Dwight was routed by Herscher (Herscher, IL), 5-2, in a non-league challenge.
