The Independence Mustangs (Independence, IA) softball routed the visiting South Winneshiek Warriors (Calmar, IA), 13-1 in Saturday's non-league bout.
The Mustangs (3-7) will now prepare for their bout against Benton (Van Horne, IA). The Bobcats go into the non-league bout with a 6-1 record. In their last bout, Benton toppled Williamsburg (Williamsburg, IA), 7-3, in a league bout.
The Warriors now possess a 2-5 record. They play next when they host New Hampton for a non-league bout on Tuesday, June 4. South Winneshiek will confront a Chickasaws squad coming off a 10-0 non-league loss to Charles City (Charles City, IA). The Chickasaws record now stands at 2-1.
