Algona Bulldogs (Algona, IA) backers left the game pleased Thursday as they saw their softball squad nudge the visiting North Union Mustangs (Armstrong, IA), 7-4 in a non-league game.

With the triumph, Algona upgrades its record to 9-3 on the year. The Bulldogs travel to Clear Lake (Clear Lake, IA) to play the Lions in a North Central game on Friday, June 12. The Lions enter the game with a record of 11-1.

The Mustangs now own a 10-4 record. They play next when they host Garner-Hayfield/Ventura for a Top of Iowa-West game on Friday, June 12. North Union will play a Cardinals squad coming off a 13-10 non-league win over Northwood-Kensett (Northwood, IA). The Cardinals record now stands at 4-5.
