The Ankeny Hawks edged the host Dallas Center-Grimes Mustangs softball squad by a count of 8-7 in Saturday's non-league challenge.
Next, the Hawks meet the Valley Tigers (West Des Moines, IA) in a non-league challenge, on Monday, June 16. Ankeny will attempt to upgrade on its 7-8 season record. The Tigers enter the challenge with a 12-6 record after their 6-4 non-league win over Sioux City East (Sioux City, IA).
The Mustangs (17-2) will now prepare for their challenge against Clarinda (Clarinda, IA). The Cardinals enter the non-league challenge with a 13-3 record. In their last challenge, Clarinda was nudged by Bondurant-Farrar (Bondurant, IA), 5-0, in a non-league challenge.
