Newell-Fonda Mustangs (Newell, IA) backers exited the stadium thrilled Wednesday as they saw their softball squad achieve victory over the visiting South Central Calhoun Titans (Lake City, IA), 17-0 in a league challenge.

The Mustangs now own a 19-5 record. They take the field next when they travel to Sioux Central for a Twin Lakes challenge on Thursday, June 20. Newell-Fonda will face a Rebels squad coming off a 14-0 league win over Storm Lake St. Mary (Storm Lake, IA). The Rebels record now stands at 15-5.

With the loss, South Central Calhoun falls to 1-14 on the campaign. The Titans host Southeast Valley (Gowrie, IA) to face the Jaguars in a Twin Lakes challenge on Friday, June 21. The Jaguars enter the challenge with a record of 13-5. Southeast Valley won 10-6 in their recent non-league challenge against Iowa Falls-Alden (Iowa Falls, IA)
