East Union Eagles (Afton, IA) backers exited the stadium thrilled Monday as they saw their softball squad nip the visiting Mormon Trail Saints (Garden Grove, IA), 11-10 in a non-league challenge.

The Eagles now own a 1-8 record. They take the field next when they host Bedford for a Pride of Iowa challenge on Tuesday, June 4. East Union will battle a Bulldogs squad coming off a 2-1 non-league loss to Mount Ayr (Mount Ayr, IA). The Bulldogs record now stands at 1-4.

With the loss, Mormon Trail falls to 0-4 on the campaign. The Saints host Orient-Macksburg (Orient, IA) to battle the Bulldogs in a Bluegrass - West challenge on Tuesday, June 4. The Bulldogs enter the challenge with a record of 5-2. Orient-Macksburg won 10-9 in their recent non-league challenge against Melcher-Dallas (Melcher, IA)
