The Akron-Westfield Westerners softball team scored 16 runs and held the host Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn Hawks to 5 in the Westerners league win on Monday.

The Westerners now possess a 7-1 record. They put it on the line next when they travel to St. Mary's for a War Eagle battle on Thursday, June 12. Akron-Westfield will confront a Hawks team coming off a 16-4 league win over Harris-Lake Park (Lake Park, IA). The Hawks record now stands at 3-1.

With the loss, Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn moves to 0-7 on the season. The Hawks travel to Hinton (Hinton, IA) to confront the Blackhawks in a War Eagle battle on Wednesday, June 11. The Blackhawks come into the battle with a record of 8-1. Hinton won 10-0 in their recent league battle against George-Little Rock (George, IA)
