In Saturday's non-league contest, the Independence Mustangs (Independence, IA) softball squad routed the host Davenport Central Blue Devils (Davenport, IA), by a count of 11-5.

The Mustangs now sport a 19-21 record. They play next when they host Prairie for a non-league match on Monday, July 3. Independence will meet a Hawks squad coming off a 7-1 non-league win over Marion (Marion, IA). The Hawks record now stands at 14-7.

With the loss, Davenport Central moves to 8-26 on the season. The Blue devils host North Scott (Eldridge, IA) to meet the Lancers in a non-league match on Monday, July 3. The Lancers go into the match with a record of 17-9. North Scott won 10-6 in their recent non-league match against Mid-Prairie (Wellman, IA)
