The Newton Cardinals baseball team scored 3 runs and held the visiting Clarke Indians to 2 in the Cardinals non-league win on Monday.

The Cardinals now own a 8-20 record. They take the field next when they host Des Moines Christian for a non-league test on Tuesday, July 2. Newton will play a Lions team coming off a 19-0 league win over Adair-Casey/Guthrie Center (Guthrie Center, IA). The Lions record now stands at 21-1.

With the defeat, Clarke drops to 17-12 on the year. The Indians host Bedford (Bedford, IA) to play the Bulldogs in a non-league test on Tuesday, July 2. The Bulldogs go into the test with a record of 17-10. Bedford won 11-7 in their recent non-league test against East Mills (Malvern, IA)
