The Newell-Fonda Mustangs softball squad (Newell, IA), was edged 3-2 in Tuesday's non-league contest with the visiting Exira-EHK Spartans (Elk Horn, IA)

With the triumph, Exira-EHK improves its record to 13-11 on the year. The Spartans host Coon Rapids-Bayard (Coon Rapids, IA) to face the Crusaders in a Rolling Valley contest on Wednesday, July 2. The Crusaders enter the contest with a record of 1-16.

The Mustangs now hold a 19-11 record. They play next when they travel to South Central Calhoun for a Twin Lakes contest on Wednesday, July 2.
