In Saturday's non-league match, the host Ottumwa Bulldogs softball team scored a tight 8-4 victory over the Solon Spartans.

The Bulldogs (10-22) will now prepare for their match against Fairfield (Fairfield, IA). The Trojans go into the non-league match with a 9-22 record. In their last match, Fairfield was routed by Albia (Albia, IA), 10-0, in a non-league match.

In their next game, the Spartans battle the Jefferson Hawks (Cedar Rapids, IA) in a non-league match, on Monday, July 8. Solon will attempt to better on its 15-23 season record. The Hawks go into the match with a 10-8 record after their 4-2 non-league win over North Linn (Troy Mills, IA).
