In Monday's non-league outing, the visiting Simon Kenton Pioneers soccer squad scored a tight 5-2 win over the Newport Central Catholic Thoroughbreds.

The Pioneers (1-0) will now prepare for their outing against Grant County (Dry Ridge, KY). The Braves enter the District 32 outing with a 1-1 record. In their last outing, Grant County tipped Carroll County (Carrollton, KY), 2-1, in a non-league outing.

Next up, the Thoroughbreds confront the Christian Academy-Louisville Centurions (Louisville, KY) in a non-league outing, on Friday, August 16. Newport Central Catholic will attempt to improve on its 0-2 season record. The Centurions enter the outing with a 1-0 record after their 4-0 non-league win over Collins (Shelbyville, KY).
