Fans at Wednesday's non-league battle between the Newton-Conover Red Devils (Newton, NC) and the visiting Alexander Central Cougars (Taylorsville, NC), saw Newton-Conover's soccer squad triumph over Alexander Central by a count of 6-1.
The Red Devils (1-0) will now prepare for their battle against St. Stephens (Hickory, NC). The Indians come into the non-league match with a 0-1 record. In their last match, St. Stephens was overwhelmed by Pine Lake Prep (Mooresville, NC), 2-0, in a non-league match.
The Cougars now sport a 0-1 record. They take the field next when they host Statesville for a non-league match on Monday, August 18. Alexander Central will meet a Greyhounds team coming off a 10-1 non-league win over North Wilkes (Hays, NC). The Greyhounds record now stands at 1-0.
