In Thursday's non-league challenge, the visiting Gray's Creek Bears volleyball team scored a close 2-1 triumph over the Union Pines Vikings.

The Bears (2-1) will now prepare for their challenge against Laney (Wilmington, NC). The Buccaneers come into the non-league challenge with a 0-2 record. In their last challenge, Laney was edged by D.H. Conley (Greenville, NC), 2-0, in a non-league test.

The Vikings now sport a 2-1 record. They put it on the line next when they travel to Pine Forest for a non-league test on Monday, August 18. Union Pines will face a Trojans squad coming off a 2-1 non-league loss to Gray's Creek (Hope Mills, NC). The Trojans record now stands at 0-2.
