The Chieftans (5-2) will now prepare for their contest against Loop (Loop, TX). The Longhorns enter the non-league contest with a 0-1 record. In their last contest, Loop was tipped by Tahoka (Tahoka, TX), 3-1, in a non-league contest.

In their next game, the Antelopes encounter the Estacado Matadors (Lubbock, TX) in a non-league battle, on Saturday, August 16. Abernathy will attempt to move on its 0-2 season record. The Matadors enter the contest with a 1-3 record after their 2-0 non-league loss to Brownfield (Brownfield, TX).
