Ohio High School Volleyball - Delaware Christian can't hold off West Jefferson

In Saturday's non-league match, the West Jefferson Roughriders (West Jefferson, OH) volleyball squad tipped the visiting Delaware Christian Eagles (Delaware, OH), by a margin of 3-2.

The Roughriders now possess a 1-0 record. They play next when they travel to Triad for a Ohio Heritage North bout on Tuesday, August 26.

With the loss, Delaware Christian drops to 0-1 on the campaign. The Eagles host Worthington Christian (Worthington, OH) to clash with the Warriors in a non-league bout on Tuesday, August 19. The Warriors come into the bout with a record of 0-0.

Match Summary

The Delaware Christian Eagles battled hard but came up just short in a five-set match against West Jefferson on Saturday night. The Eagles fell by scores of 25-23, 18-25, 18-25, 25-22, 9-15, showing grit and determination in a back-and-forth match.
Senior Katie Hobbs powered the Eagles’ offense with an impressive 25 kills, while also adding 8 digs and 1 block. Freshman setter Achaia Marquis kept the attack running smoothly, recording an outstanding 75 sets and 40 assists.
Defensively, Senior Ashlyn McCoy led with 12 digs, while also contributing 4 aces and 2 assists. Senior Ellie Ranck made her presence felt on both ends with 6 digs, 6 kills, 3 aces, and 2 blocks. At the net, Senior Milana Witt added 4 kills and 2 assists, while Sophomore Dani Brobst contributed 4 kills and 2 blocks, and Junior Kari Felder chipped in 4 kills to round out a balanced attack
Despite the tough loss, the Eagles showed strong teamwork and resilience, pushing the match to the decisive fifth set.
