Indiana High School Volleyball - Rossville over Carroll

August 18, 2022: Flora, IN 46929

The crowd at Thursday's league bout between the Rossville Hornets (Rossville, IN) and the host Carroll Cougars (Flora, IN), saw Rossville's volleyball squad beat Carroll by a tally of 3-1.

With the win, Rossville upgrades its record to 2-1 on the year. The Hornets travel to Martinsville (Martinsville, IN) to play the Artesians in a non-league bout on Saturday, August 20. The Artesians go into the bout with a record of 1-1. Martinsville lost 3-0 in their recent non-league bout against Center Grove (Greenwood, IN)

The Cougars now own a 2-4 record. They play next when they host Western for a non-league bout on Tuesday, August 23. Carroll will play a Panthers squad coming off a 3-0 non-league win over Mississinewa (Gas City, IN). The Panthers record now stands at 3-0.

Match Summary

Rossville allowed us to steal the third set with five missed serves, but other than that blip, they pretty much had control of the match to win in four. Our poor passing in serve receive (Stankard at 1.31, Bowman at 1.50, and Ayres at 1.58) just kept putting us in an outright hole (aced 11 times) or out of system (32 times - 12 by Stankard alone) to the point where we forced to send free balls or the Hornets where killing our overpasses.
