    The West Wilkes Blackhawks football team (Millers Creek, NC), was tipped 28-21 in Friday's non-league challenge with the visiting East Wilkes Cardinals (Ronda, NC)

    The Cardinals (1-0) will now prepare for their challenge against Surry Central (Dobson, NC). The Golden Eagles come into the non-league challenge with a 0-1 record. In their last challenge, Surry Central was tipped by Alleghany (Sparta, NC), 41-18, in a non-league challenge.

    The Blackhawks now sport a 0-1 record. They take the field next when they host Elkin for a non-league challenge on Friday, August 25. West Wilkes will meet a Buckin' Elks team coming off a 28-8 non-league win over North Wilkes (Hays, NC). The Buckin' Elks record now stands at 1-0.
