The Rio Mesa Spartans (Oxnard, CA) football edged the visiting Saugus Centurions (Saugus, CA), 22-20 in Friday's non-league bout.

In their next game, the Spartans face the Camarillo Scorpions (Camarillo, CA) in a non-league bout, on Thursday, August 24. Rio Mesa will attempt to advance on its 1-0 season record. The Scorpions enter the bout with a 1-0 record after their 16-3 non-league win over Ventura (Ventura, CA).
