A tough serving Santee Falcons teamed proved too much for The Lake Balboa College Prep Cougars in the season opener in Los Angeles. Set 1 saw the Cougars with the early lead 6-4 only to let it get away at 6-10 for Santee. The Lake closed to 12-15 only to watch the Falcons go on a 10-4 roll for the win. Lake Balboa was still hurting from the first set loss & was quickly down 1-9 then buried at 2-15. That's 25 of the last 31 points by the ball control oriented Falcons! Another 10-4 finish for Santee & game over. Staring at 3 & out, the Cougars rallied in set 3. With the score tied at 2 all Opposite Nare Orujyan hammered away from the service line. She finished with 9 aces & opened up an insurmountable lead in her rotation to put the teal & black up 13-2. 12-12 sideout ball put up the W for the visitors. From a 6 all tie to start set 4 Santee tore it open 15-6. Lake Balboa fought back gamely the rest of the way 14-10 but it was not enough with the Falcons victorious 25-20.
