The Clay Eagles (Oregon, OH) volleyball overcame the host Northview Wildcats (Sylvania, OH), 3-1 in Tuesday's league contest.
The Eagles (1-0) will now prepare for their contest against Anthony Wayne (Whitehouse, OH). The Generals enter the Northern Lakes contest with a 1-0 record. In their last contest, Anthony Wayne notched a victory over Napoleon (Napoleon, OH), 3-0, in a league battle.
The Wildcats now own a 0-2 record. They put it on the line next when they travel to Springfield for a Northern Lakes battle on Thursday, August 21. Northview will encounter a Blue Devils squad coming off a 3-2 non-league loss to Bryan (Bryan, OH). The Blue Devils record now stands at 0-1.
Match Summary
SYLVANIA - Second match of the year for the Wildcats verse the visitors from Clay in their 1st match of the year, and it was a late night battle with the Cats falling short in four sets to move to 0-2 on the 2025 campaign.
Leading for Northview was sophomore middle blocker, Reese Holmes, with 7 kills on 12 attempts, hitting .500 while adding two blocks. Offensively, senior opposite, Bri Langenderfer added a team-high 12 kills, hitting .292; and junior middle blocker, Frankie Ramsdell-Washington, added 10 kills, hitting .280, adding 4 blocks. The Cats received 7 kills from senior outside, Talia Twigg, while hitting .286, with 10 digs; and 5 kills from junior outside, Katie Ward. Northview setter, Alayna Sauer, dished out 37 assists and sophomore libero, Jade Hagan, had a team-high 12 digs.
The Cats return to NLL Crossover Play on Thursday as they travel down McCord Road to Springfield.
