The Athens Academy Spartans topped the visiting Monroe Area Purple Hurricanes volleyball team by a score of 2-0 in Saturday's non-league test.

The Spartans now have a 1-1 record. They put it on the line next when they travel to Barrow Arts and Sciences Academy for a non-league test on Saturday, August 20. Athens Academy will confront a team coming off a 2-0 non-league win over Grayson (Loganville, GA). The record now stands at 4-2.

The Purple Hurricanes (2-8) will now prepare for their game against Dawson County (Dawsonville, GA). The Tigers enter the non-league game with a 0-1 record. In their last game, Dawson County was dropped by Gainesville (Gainesville, GA), 2-0, in a non-league game.
